¡Hola, Reader! Here's my favorite word of all the words that change drastically across Spanish speaking countries: 🍓FRUTILLA (strawberry). Why? Because it's cute and funny when you realize WHY it's called frutilla. My students learned this in our last conversational lesson. During our lesson, we were discussing what we saw in an image. This one had gorgeous hermanas gemelas (twin sisters) wearing abrigos (jackets), buying frutas (fruit) at a local market, in an isla (island). Plenty to talk about with this image! But first, we mentioned all the fruits we could see. One of them was strawberry. In many Hispanic countries, strawberry is called fresa. And, OF COURSE, in South America we changed it. We call it frutilla. Why? Here's the truth👇 Es una fruta chiquita... = frutilla. MINDBLOWING, RIGHT?🤯 OK, not so much, but it's cute and kind of funny. ⭐In summary, if you don't join our lessons every Monday at 11 AM ET, you'll miss out on all the Spanish learning fun! These lessons are PERFECT FOR anyone at an intermediate or upper level WHO WANTS TO have fun practicing Spanish on a weekly basis. You'll get instant feedback too, ensuring a steady progress.
